Book Blind Date

So I’m currently in study mood for my pharmacy licensure exam so I’ve been busy. But when I saw one of my local bookstores was having a book blind date I dropped everything and went!

Basically, they wrap up a book, post a blurb on the wrapping and based on what it says you choose one. It’s great for those wanting to mix things up a bit and like being surprised!

My first thought when I got there was…”Check the fantasy and scifi books!” But honestly my TBR for these genres grows every day so I wanted to try something different. So I decided to pick up a book in Spanish. Even though my first language is Spanish I’ve always preferred reading books in English. Well here I am trying to broaden my literary horizons.

My choice

The blurb- What would you be capable of when you are past your breaking point? ¿De que serías capaz cuando has sobre pasado tus limites?

The blurb I found to be intriguing and I love a good suspense book.

Unwrapping! I felt like a kid getting a christmas present!

Lo and behold! The reveal…La Pareja de al Lado; the Spanish translation of The Couple Next Door by Shari Lapena. Apparently, it’s a thriller/suspense novel about a couple who go out to dinner to the house next door, later to find their child missing. I’ve heard good things about this book so we’ll see.

I was a little disappointed because I wanted to read a book originally in spanish, not a translation but I’ll take it!

Has anyone heard anything about this book or read it? What are your thoughts on it?

Have your bookstores ever done a book blind date? I might have some wine with mine 😉
